Leo Yanes is a Senior Consultant with ACIL Tasman. Leo holds Ph.D. and M.Sc. qualifications in economics from the London School of Economics and has been a Visiting Research Scholar in the Department of Economics at Harvard. Leo has extensive experience in quantitative economics, with a strong emphasis on planning, valuation (discounted cash flows, cost-benefit analysis), quantitative risk analysis (Monte Carlo simulation), and general equilibrium analysis.

Leo’s experience in the oil & gas sector encompasses project appraisal using discounted cash flow and long and short-run forecasting. Leo has built cash flow models for various oil & gas projects at Santos and PDVSA (the national oil company of Venezuela). This work includes an integrated supply chain model for the Gladstone Coal Seam Gas to LNG project. This model encompasses all aspects of the production process, from the reservoir (modelling subsurface gas and water flows) through to the LNG plant and shipping. Other projects include design of a valuation procedure for geo-political risk for mining investments, design and construction of a business forecasting toolkit for a multinational corporation, construction of forecasts to 2100 for the Eastern Australia gas market. Leo has experience in economic impact studies for oil & gas projects, educational aspects of the National Reform Agenda and provided modelling support for the International Monetary Fund economic restructuring programme in Venezuela (1996).
