Richard Begley specialises in the economics of resources and sustainability. He has extensive experience consulting to industry and governments, with an emphasis on developing and assessing policies and managing modelling and other quantitative analysis.
Richard has worked extensively in the area of greenhouse and sustainable energy. Recent greenhouse analyses include advising clients on the impacts of emissions trading, and assessing the complementarity of policies to the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme. Richard also continues to advise on the economics of LNG and of domestic gas supply, and on optimal energy policy.
In other work, Richard has undertaken a range of economic impact assessments of major resource and infrastructure projects in Western Australia, including oil and gas, water and transport infrastructure. A number of these evaluations utilised general equilibrium economic modelling.
Richard also has expertise in trade and industry policy. He has a particular interest in innovation policy and in indigenous business development.
