  • The Contribution of the Minerals Industry to the NSW Economy: a report to the Minerals Ministerial Advisory Council

    The NSW Minerals Ministerial Advisory Council has embarked on a program of work to enhance the sustainability of the NSW minerals industry. In this report, ACIL Tasman describes the current and projected contribution of the minerals industry to the NSW economy. The report also identifies the community and regulatory environment within which the industry operates - an environment that presents challenges and risk to a sustainable future.

  • ACIL Tasman report to Greenhouse Policy Coalition: Electricity Generation from Renewable Energy Sources

    In this Report, ACIL Tasman examines the options to provide incentives to renewables electricity projects that are not cost-competitive, with the objective being to minimise the costs to the New Zealand economy that such incentive would create. The options that minimise an increase in electricity prices paid by consumers, or taxes paid by taxpayers, are the options that will cause least damage to the economy.

  • Paul Balfe makes presentation to the Queensland Energy Conference in March 2007

    Paul Balfe, Executive Director responsible for ACIL Tasman's gas business gave a presentation entitled "The Outlook for the Queensland Gas Market: CSG, how big can it get?" at the Queensland Energy Conference in March 2007. The paper reviews the gas supply and demand outlook for Eastern Australia under "business as usual" assumptions, then considers the implications of adoption of binding greenhouse gas abatement targets on the demand for gas and the consequent requirement for increased coal seam gas production.

  • ACIL Tasman updates its power station costs report for NEMMCO

    As part of the National Electricity Market Management Company's (NEMMCO) 2007 Annual National Transmission Statement (ANTS), ACIL Tasman has been engaged to provide data on generation costs in the National Electricity Market (NEM). This is the third consecutive time ACIL Tasman has been engaged by NEMMCO to produce the report on generation costs which is seen as a useful resource by a wide range of industry participants and observers.
