Water Resource Management
& Wastewater – Structure & Pricing
ACIL Tasman has long
history of undertaking analysis and
providing advice on water-related
issues, both in Australia and
internationally. Our consultants have
thorough understanding of the importance
of water resources to the community and
its role in economic growth and
prosperity. This knowledge has been
gained by undertaking analysis and
providing advice on water-related issues
in Australia and overseas for more than
a decade.
We have undertaken
water related projects for a wide range
of private and public sector clients
including international agencies,
Commonwealth and State and local
government bodies, water and wastewater
service providers and their industry
associations, regulators, users, and
other stakeholders.
Our experience and
expertise encompasses virtually all
aspects of the water cycle, from
catchment and water resource management
through to the delivery of water in both
urban and rural settings, environmental
and other impacts of water use, the
trade-offs between different water
users, and ultimately the treatment and
disposal of sewerage and trade
effluent.
ACIL Tasman’s

•
Economic and financial
project evaluation;
•
Industry restructuring and
reform;
•
Pricing and cost analysis;
•

ACIL Tasman staff
have been at the forefront of designing
and implementing reform of water and
wastewater services, both in Australia
and overseas. ACIL Tasman’s experience
includes extensive work for the World
Bank and the Asian Development Bank in
SE Asian countries, advice on
re-structuring, reform and
corporatisation of the water sector in a
number of Australian states, and
provided advice to the UK water
companies throughout the UK
privatisation process.
Our expertise
includes tariff analyses for water,
sewerage and trade effluent services –
with respect to bulk, retail and
irrigation tariffs. Under the backdrop
of changing regulatory frameworks as
competition policy has evolved in the
water sector, we have examined the
implications of innovative retail
tariffs for water and waste water,
investigated pricing issues related to
irrigation water, and examined the basis
of bulk water charges in a number of
Australian states. We have also
addressed scarcity value pricing,
developing strategic positions with
respect to general and recycled water
pricing issues.
ACIL Tasman has
substantial expertise in the economic
and financial analysis of individual
projects relating to water supply,
re-use and sewerage in urban, rural and
remote areas. Our consultants have
undertaken cost-benefit analyses for
many different types of water and
sewerage projects.
ACIL Tasman has a
proven track record in the analysis and
development of water markets and
property rights, including high level
policy processes involving complex
community trade-offs; and the
development of financial instruments
supporting water markets.
