implications of greenhouse gas emissions
trading, carbon taxes and emissions
regulation for a range of companies and
sectors including Wesfarmers, Alcoa,
Boral, WMC, Rio Tinto, aluminium sector,
coal sector, electricity generators and
others.

Department of Treasury and Finance
analysing the economic, social and
environmental impacts on Victoria and
other jurisdictions associated with 25
economic, social and environmental
policy changes adopted by various
governments.

statement for the Gorgon LNG
development.
Policy advice
ACIL Tasman’s team
includes former executive level public
servants at both Commonwealth and State
level that understand the requirements
of developing good public policy, and
the potential to turn good policy into
bad policy through poor legislation and

Examples of policy
advice we have delivered to clients

efficient greenhouse gas emissions
trading scheme for several corporate
clients.

Analysis of alternative
tax arrangements on the nature and
extent of oil recycling in Australia for
Environment Australia. This involved
assessing the viability of oil recycling
operations in Australia under alternate
tax and excise conditions.

Advice to Environment
Australia and the Department of Industry
Science and Resources on the diesel
excise differential’s likely
effectiveness in accelerating the switch
to low 50 ppm sulphur diesel and speed
the introduction of new refinery capital
investment.

accepted by the key decision makers.

Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

Advice to Peabody Resources on NSW
EPA requirements and policy trends in relation to
sulphur content of coal, and possible implications
for the value of low sulphur coal reserves.
